Overview

The Music department is a busy hive of activity. Girls may have lessons in piano, singing, guitar, drums, strings, brass and woodwind instruments.

There are many musical groups in which girls can participate in Glenlola Collegiate.  Instrumentalists from years 8 to 14 and who are grade 3 and above can  play in the Concert Band and String Orchestra.  There is Junior (years 8-10) and Senior Choir (years 11-14) open to anyone who wants to join.

In addition, there are a number of smaller ensembles, namely Jazz Band, Junior and Senior Chamber Choirs and a Clarinet quartet.

Music is an important part of both school and community life with a number of annual key performances. These include our Prize Night, Carol Service, Action Cancer concert in St. Anne’s Cathedral, Open Night, Women’s World day of Prayer, a Spring concert and most recently a Junior School Musical in the spring term.

The School musicians are also often invited to perform at various other events and performances throughout the year.
