Brief Tour of the Library

Magazines are located in the soft seating area beside the reference books.  These include The Economist, National Geographic and BBC Wildlife.

The Issues Section contains useful resources for preparing debates and for the PSE curriculum as well as providing information/ advice on Pastoral Care

The Reference Section contains sets of general encyclopaedias, single volume encyclopaedias and dictionaries.  There are also general interest books, for example, The Guinness Book of Records, The Everything Trivia Book, The World Book and many more.

Fiction Books are located behind the staircase on free-standing shelving units.  They are in alphabetical order, with new titles displayed on the shelf unit facing the staircase.

Non-Fiction Books are on the shelves along the walls in Dewey Decimal order.

DVDs and Videos are on the rotating display stands beside the Library Notices Board and next to the three computers in the Main Library

The ICT Room, adjacent to the Main Library, houses a further sixteen computers which are available throughout the school day.  These can be used for homework, coursework and general research in accordance with the rules for use of E-Mail and the Internet which are displayed on the Issue Desk and in the Computer Room.  Priority will be given to pupils who do not have ICT facilities available at home.  All computers are linked to the C2K network and have a comprehensive range of Windows-based software installed.
